Achamore Gardens

This 50 acre exotic garden combines natural woodlands, walled gardens and pond area where many rare and interesting plants grow in the warm Gulf Stream air.

Initially established at the end of the 19th century and now part of the island estate, the Gardens boast palm trees and bamboo, thanks to Gigha’s frost-free climate. Achamore Gardens is also home to the nationally acclaimed Rhododendron Collection established in 1944 by then owner Colonel Horlick – who is better known for his bedtime drink!
